00 Hack Your's (and other's) Brain ... change anything

What I mean is ...
  • It's easy to say "I can't do that, or I always have done it this way"
  • However, there are situations where a change is required, desired or needed
  • Remember, in our family the phrase "I can't" does not exist, I say "Yes you can"
  • Now you can hack your brain with association and contrasting
  • One condition - you want the change

Association:  definition "an idea, image, feeling, etc., suggested by or connected with something other than itself

Simply stated, associate a positive feeling, activity or emotion with the negative situation to bypass the negative activity with positive benefits

Example: (you already do this) You really don't enjoy the hour drive to Grandma's but you know that once you get there we all have fun - fishing, swimming at Kayla's and catching up with Kayla. So when you come down, you know the hour drive is coming, you associate that drive not with being on the road, but with all the fun you'll have when you arrive.

Contrast:  definition "To set in opposition in order to show or emphasize differences"

Simply stated, use contrast or comparison of options to focus on the positive. In doing so emphasize the begin with the negative and ending with the positive.

Example: Consider yourself a Real Estate agent - showing homes for sale. Your clients can't decide. So what do you do? You offer to show them several homes in the price range they desire. The first  few homes are disasters and they are concerned that they will not be able to get the home they want at their budget. You now take them to the remaining homes. The home is attractive, meets their needs, but is slightly above their budget. They Buy! They feel that after seeing the first homes and contrasting them against the last home - they have to buy this home NOW.
