One Liners ... and why

* CATEGORY ??

Develop a Skill Stack  ... is simply utilizing various skills that you have acquired throughout your life and combining them in a unique way that is individual to you and far more useful than the sum of each skill separately. See https://is.gd/0glTr6

When someone uses many, many 'reasons' why something is the way they see it - 90% of the time the concept or idea is false and they are just trying to persuade you.

Always 'listen' to others arguments when they use comparisons - Many times people try to convince you of a reason by attempting to say one thing with another - when they are unrelated (most often when they refer to news or surveys). Ask yourself - Really?

Never just say ‘good' when someone asks ‘how’s it going?’ - Instead of just saying "good or okay" have a real response like “Any day above ground is a good one.”

Say "hi" to every person you meet and initiate conversation - Try saying 'hi' to every single person you see. Smile, make eye contact, say a simple ‘hello.’ You never know what results!

Listen fully ... don't listen to reply - Steven Covey said “most people listen with the intent to reply, not with the intent to understand.” If you learn to just listen without thinking what to say next, you’ll come across as a better conversationalist.

Sept 18 ... You can't read other people's minds - We do not know how people will respond. Therefore, until they state their position or respond, we can only guess the outcome, because only they know the issues they are dealing at that time (that can and will influence their action).

When comparing options, make sure it's 'apples to apples' - We constantly need to make choices, often comparing one option to another. To evaluate competing options, it is critical to compare these options on the same level and exclude emotion, preferences or biases.

Always Confirm understanding before responding - After someone speaks, validate what you understood by saying "What I heard you say was ..." .. and then summarize.

Communication is used to change people's behavior, NOT informing them - When individuals communicate information, opinion or direction, they (you) do this to encourage the other person to change what they are doing, stop what they are doing, or continue doing.

Everyone has an agenda and it is in their best interest, not yours - TV, commercials, sales people and friends communicate typically for their benefit so ask "is this in my best interest and at what cost - money, time, effort and risk is it to me and them.

Experts are not right - Information can be convincing as well as biased. Experts are human, and present 'their' view and interpretation. So seek independent sources and compare.

There is a positive side in everything - When a situation turns bad and all seems lost, understand that there is always something positive if you search. Its about attitude.

Do it right the first time - We have learned that doing something part way because of limited time or money always results in returning and spending more time and more money to do it right the 2nd time. "There is never time to do it right the 1st time, but always time to do it over"

Doing the same thing over, hoping to get a different outcome is insanity - Once a solution to a problem is tried, checked and fails, change the solution to reach the same end.

Make deposits into emotional bank accounts - Build relationships with others by making deposits (acts of kindness, respect and support) because someday you will make a unexpected withdrawal and you don't want the account (relationship) to get closed.

P-D-C-A can solve any problem - Plan (what needs to be done), Do (what steps in the plan you set), Check (each step and verify what worked and didn't), Act (adjust, do PDCA again)

Never Lie - You can never remember what lie you told or who you told it to, but not telling the truth is the quickest way to turn yourself into a stranger to others.

If you don't have something nice to say about someone, say nothing - Talking negatively about someone to others ... leaves 'others' asking "what do they say about me?"

Base your principals on the Bible - it's been around for centuries

If you never make mistakes, you are not learning new things - Thomas Edison said how he felt when he was asked how he felt failing so many times when creating the light bulb "I didn't fail 800 times ... I learned 800 ways on how NOT to make a light bulb".

Having a Goal(s) is good, but using a system is better - Goals are a single end point and often times fail, but a system is a series of tasks that are aimed to achieve a desired result.

Keep it Simple  - The principle states that most things work best if they are kept simple rather than complicated. Simplicity should be a key goal in business and personal activities.

One Text, One email, One Subject - To get a response to a text or email you send, studies have shown ... keep it short, place your request first, and only include one topic per message.

Make Decisions at the Last Moment - Opportunities and information changes so fast, always wait for the latest information before making a decision unless you are confident in advance.

Multi-tasking does not exist - We may have several things active, but at any given time we can work on one task at a time. Select it - work 30 mins - move on. Shifting 5 mins here, 5 mins there is inefficient. Best method is the Pomodoro Technique: See 5 Steps of Pomodoro.

No Problem is insurmountable - https://tinybuddha.com/blog/25-questions-to-help-solve-problems-that-seem-insurmountable/

You can't manage it ... if you don't measure it - Facts and data are essential in order to manage and improve anything: projects, expenses, net worth, gas mileage, weight, etc.

Make the trend your friend - Just like measurement means management, keeping track of current performance and reactions typically indicates what the future responses will be.

Be your own contractor and save $$ -

No one can forecast the stock market - but, you need to be in the market to keep ahead of inflation (the silent tax). So: invest in a diversified portfolio and dollar-cost averaging.

You’re neither right nor wrong because other people agree with you. You’re right ONLY because your facts are right and your reasoning is right – THEN you don’t have to worry about anybody else.”

Pay Yourself First - Never pass up the opportunity to save for the future (and financial unknown). A portion (20%) of every dollar you earn or receive should be saved and invested.

Question 'facts' when presented anecdotes - you are a potential victim of persuasion when others (people, news, sales people and advertisers) try to convince you of something

When News is a little 'too much on the nose' or too perfect - it's a good chance it is fake or biased by the source.

You can't trust anything anyone says - but you can trust that people will be and act the same as they were the last time. It's a good prediction tool.
