00 Program Your Brain

What this means ...
  • Our brains are association machines and not logic machines
  • Use association to create habits
  • What you focus on and think about ... becomes important (so only think positive)
  • Focus causes the brain to notice things in the future
  • You have a limited amount of mental shelf space (only a limited number of things can be remembered at one time) - so, fill it up with good thoughts
  • Use visual imagination to see a positive outcome - if it's visual it can be
  • Reasons (most) people offer are fake - it just is offered to support what they want
  • You can program your brain using associations ... by programming yourself like a dog

The best way to demonstrate the power of association is by a couple examples:

.. Molly gets treats when she goes outside or when she notifies Grandma she needs to pee. When she goes outside, Grandpa places treats in the family room for her to find when she comes in. Now Molly knows if she goes out there will be a treat waiting for her inside. We have programmed her so well that she will even 'fake' the need to go out just to come back in for a treat. We have programmed Molly to know she needs to let us know. (Molly associates going outdoors and doing her business with getting treats)

.. Grandpa started learning photography to capture events. I then started reading books, watching videos, joining photo clubs and continue to look for new ways to use photography in day trips, learning Florida history, having fun with Grandma. (I associate learning photography with enjoying time with Grandma)

.. Kayla started tumbling and could not do it well. She decided she wanted to be in competition and started taking lessons, she joined a cheer team, pushed herself to be better, watches past competition videos, exercise and practice every night. Kayla associates cheer with being in shape, having friends with the same interests and positive, healthy activity)

Program your own brain or others by treating each other as a dog (like above). Associate a behavior with a positive outcome.
